I first met John when Derek and I launched the business and attended a small wedding showcase to try to meet some vendors. He was easy to talk to, passionate about his work, and his sample videos were awesome! We knew we wanted to work with him and brought him on board for our pop-up wedding launch. We were happy we did. 😊
John Petrovic, Owner/Lead Filmmaker, of 71 Studios is a former photo journalist turned filmmaker that has lived in the Kansas City area almost all his life. Through a creative storytelling approach, John and his team blend your day’s big events into a cinematic masterpiece you can relive with family and friends for years to come.
He started as a newspaper photo journalist but after working in that field for almost nine years, he was laid off. A few years later a great friend, who was also a former photo journalist, asked if John wanted to help him film weddings. That experience led him to where he is today. Like so many other wedding entrepreneurs building their business, John still works a 9-5 job. However, it gives him the flexibility to do what he truly loves which is to make wedding films.
Each wedding has a different story, and 71 Studios works hard to capture the love and emotion of one of the most important days of your life. Depending on which package you choose, two filmmakers will spend 8-10 hours with the wedding couple on their big day. From the hours of moments captured, 71 Studios will blend them with audio from letters written, vows, speeches and other moments to make something that will be memorable for a lifetime.
John loves being able to spend such an important day with the couple and give them something that they can cherish for a life time. After the couple has seen the film, John loves hearing things like "So many friends and family members have reached out about the video, expressing their amazement in the production quality and raving about the entire thing.”

I have seen more people express the importance of getting a wedding videographer. I hope that trend continues!! 😉
